Clyde Mineral Technologies
The Clyde Mineral Technologies Division of Clyde Materials Handling (CMH) provides low energy, low maintenance and environmentally enhanced material handling solutions for customers who operate in the mineral markets.
CMH specialises in providing dense phase pneumatic conveying and pneumatic dosing/injection solutions that strive to reduce energy and maintenance costs, reduce the emission of dust and harmful pollutants while helping customers to improve productivity.
In recent years, the Clyde Minerals Technologies Division has worked closely with leading producers in the minerals industry to replace screw pump systems that typically consume high levels of energy and incur high maintenance costs.
The Clyde Mineral Technologies Division’s depth of process expertise covers predominately the cement and gypsum markets, where CMH’s dense phase pneumatic conveying and pneumatic dosing/injection technologies have been implemented to reduce energy and emissions, whilst maximising process performance and productivity.
Process Expertise:
The Clyde Minerals Technologies Division has deployed its expertise across the following processes in the cement and gypsum markets:
- Cement:
- Cement Kiln
- Cement / Coal / Finishing / Cement Mills
- Kiln Stack
- Blend Plant
- Preheater / Calciner
- Clinker Silos
- Distribution Silos
- Gypsum:
- Silo / Storage
- Mill
- Dryer
- Scrap / Rejects
- Blending
- Bagging
Applications:
Clyde Materials Handling’s dense phase pneumatic conveying and pneumatic dosing/injection technologies were developed to provide a simple, reliable, efficient and accurate method of transporting materials to either single or multiple reception points within plant or directly to process.
CMH’s range of dense phase conveying solutions have the capability to transport typically difficult, abrasive materials at rates over 300 tonnes/hour, up to distances of 1.5 miles and at temperatures up to 450°C, all within a single conveying pipeline.
CMH’s range of pneumatic dosing/injection solutions have the capability to inject material volumetrically with accuracy of ±2% or gravimetrically to ±0.5% by weight. Containment backpressures of up to 50 barg can be accommodated by CMH’s pneumatic dosing/injection technology, with injection distances limited simply by the available conveying pressure.
CMH’s dense phase pneumatic conveying and dosing/injection technologies have been applied successfully within the minerals market. Examples of typical applications include:
- Cement:
- Replacing screw pumps with energy efficient pneumatic conveying solutions
- Conveying OPC, limestone, PFA and raw meal over short, medium and long distances
- Conveying kiln, clinker dust and high chlorine by-pass dusts
- Conveying MBM, WDF and synthetic gypsum over long distances
- Handling a range of alternative fuels and raw material from other process industries such as power stations, foundries, refineries and chemical plants etc
- Dosing pulverised fly ash and other additives into cement milling systems
- Dosing sodium bicarbonate or hydrated lime into kiln stack to remove chloride emissions
- Dosing pulverised coal into a cement kiln
- Blending raw material in a conveying pipeline and dosing directly to process
- Dosing alternative fuels such as MBM, SRF, sewage pellet and other WDF’s into a cement kiln
- Gypsum:
- Stucco / HT Stucco / LT Stucco conveying
- Pre and Calcined Mineral conveying
- Desulphogypsum (DSG) / synthetic gypsum conveying
- Wet DSG conveying
- Edge trim and other scrap material conveying
- Additive dosing to process, i.e. vermiculite, perlite, mica etc
